Information literacy and its link to evidence-informed policymaking in Zimbabwe

This paper explored the link between information literacy (IL) and other factors that enable or inhibit utilisation of research evidence in policymaking Zimbabwe. The study assumes if policymakers possess appropriate IL skills to access, assess, synthesise, apply evidence, they will naturally use inform their policy decisions. Face-to-face interviews with 26 — technocrats selected from Parliament Zimbabwe two ministries, Industry Commerce, Youth, Sport, Recreation produced findings conclusions. Data synthesis using thematic content analysis confirmed findings. results show while are critical enabling policymakers' multiple also influence due complexity process. political socioeconomic context plays a profound role because intricate nonlinear nature Therefore, enhancing revolves around strengthening at individual level, including institutional broader ecosystem, by acknowledging leveraging personal relationships. insight illuminates need reorient programmes them these factors.
